New Employees

Improvement of buildings and public spaces thanks to the three contracts of the City Council through the ‘Air Plan’

Three unemployed neighbours have been recruited to carry out maintenance and improvement of our Town Hall facilities. They are the individuals shown in the picture (to the left of our Councillor Noelia)

Last October, through the project of the Initiative for the Activation, Promotion and Recovery of Employment (AIRE) which started to be developed in the municipality of Zurgena. This was  intended to reactivate employment and alleviate the effects of the health crisis, to the largest extent possible. The Ministry of Employment, Training and Autonomous Work of the Junta de Andalucía, with funding from the European Social Fund and the Operational Program for Youth Employment, has allocated 32,560 euros to the Zurgena AIRE initiative. The collaboration of the Zurgena City Council with the ‘Plan AIRE’ has made it possible for us to hire 3 unemployed people from the municipality.

The people hired, thanks to this plan to boost employment, will carry out various maintenance and improvement tasks of public spaces and buildings within the municipality. In addition, they are currently working on the enhancement of facilities and premises. Their jobs will last for 8 and 6 months, depending on the age group.

Each of the contracts belongs to one of the groups specified in the grant, such as "Young people under 30, registered in the SGJ"; the 30 to 44 age group and the +45 age group who are also long-term unemployed ”.

Road Delays

Just for everyones information due to the enforcement of the travel restrictions I have received reports of many delays on the motorways.

Control points are being established at various points where they direct traffic through services or into one lane to check people are adhering to the rules but this of course gives rise to long delays. So if travelling to airports or for allowable purposes of an  inter provincial nature then allow plenty of time.

Covid Restrictions Update

In recent days, the positive cases of COVID-19 have increased in the municipality of Zurgena, that is why, we remind you, once again, of the importance of:

😷 Use a mask (from 6 years old).

🤲 Wash your hands frequently.

↔️ Maintain a safe distance.

⛔ Avoid crowds.

🚗 Do not leave the municipal area.

🏡 Stay home as long as possible.

Respecting the rules of the Government of Spain and the Junta de Andalucía, we will be able to get out of this and have ZERO positives again.

The City Council is giving support and collaborating with the positive cases of the municipality and their families to comply with the confinement that they need to respect.

The Local Police are carrying out a detailed monitoring of the contagion processes and the needs of the infected neighbours.

Once again thank you for your collaboration

Road Closure. Update 1836 10.11

We are informed that due to the works of the El Cucador-Concepción section of the Almanzora Highway, the AL-7106 road, as it passes through Palacés, will be closed to traffic from tomorrow until November 30, from 7:00 a.m.  hours until 7:00 p.m.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

As this will mean that the only route into Zurgena or Alfoquia (without breaching the restrictions) will be along the track over the Rambla I have asked for the track to be graded to make it more passable. I have also sought guidance on crossing the white line on return Palaces! I am trying to see how this can be managed. The Contractors have obviously not thought about how people can gain access within the new Covid rules. I will post as soon as I get a response. I have suggested although I am unsure they will take any notice that they postpone the closure un til they can provide an accessible and legal route to and from Zurgena.

SENSE AT LAST.

The closure of the road between Palacesd and Zurgena is not now going to occur. They have cancelled the closure and there will merely be temporary interruptions to allow the flow of lorries.

Solicitor for Residencia

I have been using a local Spanish solicitor for the sale of my house who has been efficient and very helpful.

He is well connected in legal circles and speaks reasonable English. He is based in Huercal Overa with an office in Huercal Overa at Calle Florida 15 and an email address of  bufete.ljdc@gmail.com  but as is usually the case in Spain he prefers contact through WhatsApp on his mobile number +34 65012 76 27

He also deals with all residence issues and applications.

Latest re Zurgena

Dear neighbours, we inform you that officially the number of positive cases of Covid -19 confirmed by our Medical Centre shows 13 cases in our municipality.  It is true that these results are as expected and that this figure may vary from one day to the next.  But so far this is the latest we have.

We once again emphasize the importance of respecting the security measures established by the Ministry of Health.

Try to minimize moving between areas, avoid meetings of more than 6 people, respect distances and capacities in establishments, maintain proper hand hygiene and do not forget to use a mask.

We also remember that from 23:00 h.  You cannot go outside unless it is for an emergency or justified cause.
