Consolidation Rumours Holiday Cover

I am advised that information has been posted on the Arboleas Forum regarding our consolidation process.

Please understand that the only people, who know the detail of where the process is, are those who are working on it in the Town Hall and NOT individuals from other areas or unconnected to the Town Hall of Zurgena who may be able to comment on their own areas but NOT ours.

We had the first official meeting with those who are included in this process last Friday. I am compiling a more detailed list of those affected (and fortunate to be in the first tranche of properties to be upgraded). This list we will use to keep those involved fully informed of the stages of the process.

We hope to be able to inform all of costs in the very near future but rest assured it is nowhere near the figures quoted on the Forum but in line with what we explained at the meeting. The figures we detailed are accurate, not like those shown on the Arboleas Forum from last October. Additionally the advice given on that site is also incorrect.

We are working through an official and recognised process to give the proper classification to all the land upon which houses have been built in the past 16 or so years. We are doing so to assist our citizens (as otherwise they would have to do this individually with their own solicitors thereby incurring additional costs). If anyone has any questions, issues or worries please contact myself or any of the Town Hall staff who can give you accurate information. The final costs are complete but we wish to inform all those affected at the same time so please let us get it finalised and communicate it to you.

I have not used the Arboleas Forum since about 2009 as there are just too many individuals who use the anonymity of the site to spread spurious stories.

In order that I can ensure completeness I will be getting a list of properties against which I shall compile the detail of each owner eg names, address, email, contact telephone numbers(UK and Spanish if appropriate). So, if you have not already done so, please send these details to my email at jimszurgena@gmail.com     This is solely for those of you contacted regarding the consolidation process in Alfoquia (the 30 or so houses near the Pool Bar)

During August there will be a number of days when many staff are on holiday, including myself. On any days when I am not available Jose Manuel will try and cover and his telephone number is 687531499. I will continue to monitor and respond to emails and any other messages but please bear with us during this period as responses may take a little longer than usual.

Street Theatre & Pilgrimage

Quite conveniently and accidentally we have a show which young visitors may enjoy (my grandkids are out on holiday this weekend!)

Next Saturday, July 27, Zurgena will host the Street Theater Circuit of the Hon.  Diputación de Almería.

The FURIA show will tour the streets of the town starting at 22:00, with its spectacular giant horses, lights, fire and smoke!  Do not miss it!

Just also been informed that they have rearranged the Pilgrimage of the horses and carts to this coming Saturday 27th forming up in the Plaza del Carmen at 1830 setting off at 1900 through Barrio de Chicago and Cucador to the church at Llanos and then to the picnic spot for sardines.

Letter re Consolidation

The Town Hall is in the process of sending out a letter to those properties falling within the first area to be considered for consolidation. These letters are a necessary process which should have been done at the time the houses were erected.

However so that we can explain more fully if you receive one of these letters please contact Jose Manuel or I we will try and arrange a meeting in the Town Hall to explain.

Padel Court

A few people have been asking about using the Padel Tennis Courts.

The process for using them is that you book the court for the time date you want to play at the Town Hall and you pay €8 into the appropriate bank account at the Cajamar Bank. Take the receipt to the Town Hall and thats it.

Ideas for Autumn and App Problems

Well things are certainly slowing down for the summer and the fiestas.

Once we get through summer we will be looking to restart our trips and events. We already have the date of 25th October (Dia de Mayores) for which we will probably do another culinary type event in the Renfe. Like we did in previous years where a few people from our community prepare and present a dish from their homeland. I intend also to invite the lady from the Bodega and the Olive Oil factory to attend.

So I am looking for any other suggestions for trips or days that you would like to see us organise. I suspect some of our trips could now be repeated as we have been doing them for so long. So if there are any that you have enjoyed or missed out on and would like us to consider then drop me a line.

Just for information we are having trouble with the notifications on the Mobile Phone App Living Zurgena. I have reported it to the developers (twice) but still waiting on a resolution. It appears that what happens is you will receive a notification on your phones front screen but it does not open the app or the message. Apologies and if we send out a notification and you cannot find it just send me an email.

Bando (Official Publication)

As some of you know an official announcement from the Town Hall is referred to as a ´Bando´. One such Bando has caused a few people to contact me to obtain a understanding of it as it referred to properties. I have appended a translated copy of this Bando below.
It is basically a communication advising those who qualify for grants to improve their homes what the rules are.
I suggest it does not apply to the vast majority of us but, as it referred to properties, one or two people had become nervous!

Fiesta de Nstra Senora Virgen del Carmen , La Alfoquia

Below is the Mayors address in advance of the Fiesta. The Fiesta magazine will be available soon with a full list of events etc.
I will try and condense them from the 15 pages so that I can put an abbreviated version on here.

E Sports Day

During the fiesta week (Wednesday 10th July from 1000 x1400 and 1600 x 1800) we are to hold an E Sports day in the Renfe. For those of you over a certain age this is the new name for video gaming!

I have attached the poster below. The area will be split up into different zones so that no matter what your age or game you like to play you can find something to enjoy. If you have family here at the moment they might enjoy.
